Chai & Conversations
Date & Time: Saturday, August 16th, 3:00pm - 4:00pm CST
Join us for August’s Chai & Conversations on Saturday, August 16 at 3:00 PM CST, with ceramic artist Antra Sinha as she reflects on the influence of her mentor, John Neely - from her admiration of him to their first meeting in Denmark in 2014. She will share stories of all she learned from him as her advisor in both school and life.
John Neely grew up in Wichita, Kansas, USA. On a scholarship, he completed his BFA at Alfred University, USA. During his studies, he had the opportunity to live and work in Japan, where he met Atsuko (who later became his wife) and established his own studio near Tokyo. He went on to earn an MFA at Ohio University, USA. In 1984, he was hired to start a program and serve as Professor of Ceramics at Utah State University.
Antra Sinha grew up in BSC, Jharkhand, India. She earned her BFA and MFA from MS University of Baroda, India. In 2002, she began an apprenticeship with Ray Meeker and Deborah Smith at Golden Bridge Pottery, where she worked for a decade. Her clay practice took her to several countries before she pursued her second MFA at Utah State University.
